When selecting high-quality nitrogen springs for precision molds, engineers usually first focus on the spring pressure, stroke and installation dimensions. However, the key factor that truly determines whether a nitrogen spring can operate 200,000 times or millions of times is often an easily overlooked component - the stroke rod.
BBK-JINGBA is a brand under Beibei Kang Technology (BBKDVP). Since 2008, it has been dedicated to the manufacturing process of nitrogen gas piston rods. Our experience shows that the precision of the piston rods is the foundation for the durability of high-end mold nitrogen gas springs.
The nitrogen spring generates elasticity by utilizing the high-pressure nitrogen inside the sealed cylinder. The piston rod needs to perform thousands of reciprocating movements through a high-performance sealing system every day. During each stroke, the surface of the piston rod has to withstand:
Friction between the sealing ring
Lateral load caused by mold deviation
Thermal cycling generated during continuous operation
Compression stress brought by high-pressure gas
If the surface of the travel rod is not smooth enough or not hard enough, microscopic burrs will wear down the sealing component. Once the sealing component is damaged, air leakage will start. The spring pressure will subsequently decrease, and the spring often fails prematurely before reaching the rated cycle count.
Therefore, high-quality nitrogen gas springs should not be judged solely based on the air pressure or the cylinder body; rather, the precision processing level of the stroke rod should also be taken into consideration.
At BBK-JINGBA, the travel rods are at the core of our manufacturing capabilities. Each travel rod is precisely machined to achieve a mirror-like smooth surface, with absolutely no burrs.
This surface quality brings three key advantages:
The stroke rod smoothly slides over the sealing ring without vibration or sticking. The stable elastic pressure is maintained throughout the entire stroke.
The smooth surface without burrs and mirror-like finish avoids abrasive wear on the sealing ring, ensuring the sealing interface remains airtight continuously.
The stable elastic pressure and reliable sealing mean fewer defective products, less downtime, and predictable mold maintenance cycles.
Our process includes long-term ion nitriding and mirror polishing. The penetration depth of unilateral nitriding can reach 0.2–0.3mm, and the surface hardness exceeds HV1000. After precise grinding and polishing, the surface roughness is controlled at Ra ≤ 0.02μm. This is why our stroke rod can maintain performance for millions of cycles.
Combined with Swedish TSS sealing rings, the sealing interface formed by BBK-JINGBA stroke rods has been verified by a third party to withstand 2 million full strokes under the PED 97/23/EC standard.

For manufacturers engaged in the mass production of precision molds, the durability of nitrogen springs directly affects the production reliability.
| Production bottlenecks | BBK-JINGBA's solution |
|---|---|
| Frequent mold maintenance | Longevity certification, reducing unplanned downtime |
| Inconsistent pressurization quality | The travel rod runs smoothly without any vibration, and the spring pressure is consistent. |
| Leaking prematurely | Mirror-faced travel rod + Precision sealing ring = Zero-leakage sealing interface |
| The replacement cycle of the spring is short. | High surface hardness, extending the wear-resistant lifespan during production operation |
In the fields of high-speed pressing and precise forming, a nitrogen spring that can maintain stable pressure and ensure reliable sealing during millions of cycles is not an additional feature, but rather the basic threshold of competitiveness. And the push rod is precisely the foundation of this reliability.
Beibei Kang Technology (BBKDVP) was established in 2008. Our core competence lies in the manufacturing process of nitrogen gas spring rods. Our nitrogen gas springs are designed, produced and tested in accordance with the European Pressure Equipment Standard PED 97/23/EC, and hold the ISO 9000:2000 certification.
In addition to mold nitrogen gas springs, we also provide the research and development, production, sales and after-sales service of KOWIO robot palletizing balancers, extending our precision manufacturing capabilities to the field of industrial automation.

When you choose high-quality nitrogen gas springs, you are not merely selecting a parameter for the spring pressure, but also the precision of the product itself. The smooth and free-of-bumps stroke rod ensures no jitter during extension and retraction, and zero air leakage during long-term operation - this is precisely what high-end mold manufacturers require for the mass production of precision molds.
Since 2008, BBK-JINGBA has been dedicated to this key component. It is this focus that makes our nitrogen gas springs more durable.
