Overview

I. Mold-Specific Nitrogen Gas Springs

Mold-specific nitrogen gas springs (also called die nitrogen gas springs or nitrogen cylinders) are a new type of elastic component using high-pressure nitrogen as the working medium. They feature small size, high force, long stroke, stable operation, precise manufacturing, long service life (one million cycles), and a flat force curve. They possess properties that conventional elastic components such as metal springs, rubber, and air cushions do not, allowing them to compensate for the shortcomings of conventional components and accomplish tasks that conventional components find difficult. They simplify mold design and manufacturing, facilitate mold installation and adjustment, extend mold service life, and ensure product quality stability. They can be installed as independent components in molds or designed as part of a nitrogen gas spring system, working as an integral part of the mold. Within a system, constant force and delayed action can be easily achieved. They are a new generation of ideal elastic components with many superior properties.

II. Basic Terminology for Mold-Specific Nitrogen Gas Springs

  1. Nominal Force F: The initial force of the nitrogen gas spring when filled to 15 MPa at 20°C. Unless otherwise specified by the customer, the initial force is manufactured to the nominal force value. The nominal force is consistent for the same series of nitrogen gas springs.

  2. Stroke S: The working stroke of the model. These strokes can be fully utilized. However, to prevent unexpected overloading due to exceeding the stroke during mold change or adjustment, it is recommended to reserve ≤5mm or 10% of additional stroke in the design.

  3. Overall Length L: The manufactured length of the nitrogen gas spring, i.e., the maximum length in the free state. It must satisfy: Overall Length L ≥ Base Length J + 2 × Stroke S.

  4. Service Life: Under correct installation and proper use, the service life of a nitrogen gas spring (with stroke ≤50mm) is over 1 million cycles. If the stroke is ≥50mm, the service life is calculated based on a total accumulated travel of approximately 100,000 meters: Service life = 100,000 meters ÷ (Actual stroke × 2).

III. Method for Identifying Nitrogen Gas Spring Model Parameters

Example: BKB15.0-080-270-QT08-P150-BK1

Indicates an "ISO standard type" mold-specific nitrogen gas spring with nominal force 15.0KN (i.e., 1.5T), stroke 80mm, overall length in free state 270mm. Piston rod diameter is 36mm, cylinder outer diameter is 75mm. Designed to be connected into a system using tubing (may be omitted for independent use). Uses BK1 base groove clamp type mounting accessory (may be omitted if not ordering or ordering separately). Fill pressure is 15 MPa (may be omitted if using 15 MPa or system connection).

IV. Characteristics of Nitrogen Gas Springs

1. Durable

The piston rod is precision machined, with good wear resistance, surface hardness HV1000 or above, HRC40 or above, precision below Ra0.02μm. The high-quality piston rod and top-tier global TSS seals ensure the long service life of the nitrogen gas spring. The product has been tested by the National Automotive Quality Supervision and Testing Center and passed, with a pressure decay rate below 5% after completing the effective stroke, fully complying with international standards.

2. Cost Reduction

The nitrogen gas spring features small size, high force, long life, and constant force. Small size saves mold space, high force reduces the number of springs required, long life reduces mold maintenance frequency, thus lowering total mold cost.

3. Absolutely Safe

Safety is fully considered in the product design, incorporating a safety relief groove for improper use in abnormal situations. Additionally, compared to other products using pipe welding methods, our company uses integral machining and fully automatic unique welding processes to ensure product safety and reliability.
