1. General Provisions

1.1 Purpose of Preparation

In order to standardize the maintenance work of the company's nitrogen gas springs, ensure their operational stability and service life, reduce equipment failure and shutdown rates, and ensure production safety and product accuracy, this manual is specially formulated.

1.2 Applicable equipment

This manual is applicable to various standards and customized nitrogen gas springs used in the company's mold production, hardware processing, and other processes.

1.3 Core Principles

-Prevention oriented: Adhere to the combination of daily inspections and regular in-depth maintenance, and identify hidden dangers in advance.

-Professional operation: Work involving high-pressure inflation, seal replacement, disassembly and maintenance must be carried out by professionals or manufacturers.

-Safety first: Strictly abide by the operating specifications of high-voltage components and prevent safety accidents caused by illegal operations.

2. Daily inspection and regular maintenance standards

2.1 Inspection cycle

Inspection TypeApplicable scenariosinspection frequency
Daily pre shift inspectionBefore starting production every dayonce per shift
Regular in-depth inspectionNormal working conditions (room temperature, low dust, low frequency)Once every 3 months
Regular in-depth inspectionAdverse working conditions (high temperature, high dust, high frequency impact)once a month
Restart for comprehensive inspectionLong term shutdown of equipment for ≥ 30 days1 time before restart

2.2 Core Inspection Items and Judgment Criteria

2.2.1 Appearance and sealing inspection

Inspection content: Check whether there are scratches, deformations, rust on the surface of the cylinder body, piston rod, and seals, and whether there are signs of oil or gas leakage.

Judgment criteria: It is normal for the surface to be smooth and undamaged, and for the sealing area to have no oil stains or air bubbles leaking.

2.2.2 Pressure and stroke inspection (measured by professional equipment)

Inspection content: Use a dedicated pressure gauge to detect the initial inflation pressure; Empty load test for full range operation status.

Judgment criteria: The error between the pressure value and the value indicated on the product nameplate is ≤± 5%; It is normal for the travel to be smooth without any lag, abnormal noise, or insufficient travel.

2.2.3 Attachment Inspection

Inspection content: degree of wear of guide sleeve, tightness of installation bolts, and integrity of limit device function.

Judgment criteria: The bolt is not loose and there is no sliding wire; The sensitivity of the limit device is considered normal.

2.2.4 Environmental and working condition inspection

Inspection content: Check whether the operating environment temperature, cleanliness, and the direction of force on the nitrogen gas spring are consistent with the axis.

Judgment criteria: The ambient temperature is within the range of -20 ℃ to 80 ℃; No large amount of dust or corrosive media; No unbalanced load and normal lateral force.

2.3 Routine maintenance measures

Cleaning: Wipe the surface of the piston rod and cylinder body with a dust-free cloth daily to remove dust, iron filings, and other impurities; Install dust-proof and anti-corrosion protective covers under harsh working conditions.

Lubrication: During regular deep inspections, apply special high-temperature resistant grease to the joint between the piston rod and the guide sleeve, and it is strictly prohibited to use ordinary engine oil.

Recharge: When the pressure is lower than the standard value by ≥ 10%, use a dedicated inflation tool to replenish high-purity nitrogen gas. It is strictly prohibited to fill with air or mixed gases.

Replacement: If the wear of key components (seals, guide sleeves) exceeds the standard, or if the piston rod is deformed or the cylinder body is cracked, immediately replace it as a whole or send it to the factory for repair.

3. Daily Inspection Record of Nitrogen Spring

Note:

1. The specific location and degree of abnormal items should be clearly stated in the "Abnormal Details Description", and the results should be indicated in the "Handling Measures" column after processing.

2. Regular in-depth inspections should be accompanied by pressure detection value records.

3. This form is in duplicate, with one copy retained by the production team and one copy filed by the technical department.

4. Fault emergency response quick check card

4.1 Emergency Response Table for Core Faults

Fault phenomenonCore possible reasonsStep by step emergency responseSafety Warning
Sudden air leakage/sudden drop in pressureDamaged seals, loose joints, and cracked cylinder bodies1. Immediately stop the machine and cut off the total power of the equipment; 2. Make warning signs and prohibit personnel from approaching the faulty spring; 3. Contact professional maintenance personnel or manufacturers for replacement, and it is strictly prohibited to self inflate or disassembleHigh pressure nitrogen leakage can easily cause impact damage, do not observe the leakage point up close
Travel delay/unable to resetPulling of piston rod, accumulation of dust on guide sleeve, and insufficient lubrication1. Ensure that the equipment is unloaded and clean the surface impurities of the piston rod after power off; 2. Apply specialized high-temperature resistant grease and manually test the stroke; 3. If it still lags, mark it as isolated and send it to the factory for maintenanceDo not forcefully pry the piston rod to prevent component deformation, breakage, and splashing
Oil leakage/oil film seepageWear of sealing lip and excessive clearance of guide sleeve1. Immediately stop production at the workstation and isolate the faulty nitrogen gas spring; 2. Record the location, amount, and duration of oil leakage; 3. Disassemble and send to the factory for replacement of sealing components. Do not operate with defectsOil stains can reduce the friction of the motion pair, leading to deviations in mold accuracy and causing product scrap
Cylinder body overheating and overheatingHigh ambient temperature, high-frequency reciprocating motion, poor heat dissipation1. Immediately stop the machine and allow the nitrogen spring to cool naturally to room temperature; 2. Check the ventilation conditions on site and install insulation covers or heat dissipation devices; 3. Long term overheating requires replacement of heat-resistant nitrogen gas springsOverheating can accelerate the aging of seals, which may cause nitrogen expansion and lead to cylinder block rupture
Force deflection/lateral wearInstallation angle deviation, guide component failure, limit loosening1. After shutdown, recalibrate the installation axis of the nitrogen spring to ensure coaxial force distribution; 2. Replace worn guide sleeves and limit pieces, and tighten all installation bolts; 3. Conduct 3 no-load tests to confirm no bias load before resuming productionUnbalanced load can significantly shorten the lifespan of nitrogen gas springs, and in severe cases, cause cylinder burst accidents

4.2 Shorthand mnemonic for emergency response

Stop the machine if there is a leak, clean the lag first;

Oil leakage needs to be inspected, and if it exceeds the temperature limit, it should be cooled down first;

Unbalanced load adjustment installation, safety in mind.

5. Safety Management Supplementary Provisions

1. Operators must undergo nitrogen spring safety operation training and be familiar with the content of this manual before they can take up their posts.

2. High risk operations such as high-pressure inflation, disassembly and maintenance must be carried out by qualified professionals, and safety warning signs must be set up on site.

3. After the nitrogen gas spring reaches its design cycle life (usually one million cycles), regardless of whether the appearance is normal, it needs to be replaced as a whole, and it is prohibited to use it beyond the expiration date.

4. This manual is interpreted and revised by the Production Technology Department and shall be implemented from the effective date.
